Funeral services for Alvin Knuffman were held Saturday morning at 8:30 in the Haugh and Son funeral home and at 9 in St. Brigid’s Catholic Church. A grandson, the Rev. Donald Knuffman, officiated. Mrs. Wayne Pond and Mrs. Betty Smith played the organ and the church choir sang. Clergymen assisting at the funeral were the Rev. Henry Kozak and Seminarian John Wiskirchen. Pallbearers were grandsons, Marvin, Raymond, Roger, Kenneth and Dick Knuffman and Harold Schmidt. Burial was in St. Brigid’s Church cemetery.

Alvin A. Knuffman, 78, a retired farmer of near Liberty, died Wednesday afternoon, August 16, 1967, at 4:40 in St. Mary Hospital at Quincy.

Mr. Knuffman was born April 18, 1889, in Honey Creek township in Adams County, a son of Frank H. and Katherine Freese Knuffman. He married Anna Frances Clark, March 26, 1913. She died in April of 1949.

Mr. Knuffman spent most of his life in the Liberty area. He was a member of St. Brigids Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society of the church.

Surviving are three sons, Everett of Quincy, Harry of Baltimore, Md., and Laurence of Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Mary Florence) Schmidt of Liberty; two brothers, Joseph and Frank of Liberty; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
