Obituary Lookup Policy
Newspaper Research Fee
$5.00 - A search of up to 6 weeks of newspapers. This fee is for one obituary or other news item.
Important: The newspapers searched will be nearest the last residence of the deceased, unless you specifically indicate a newspaper title or a newspaper from a specific location that you want searched. Visit “Missouri Newspapers” for a list of newspapers available for a particular area and time period.
Missouri Newspapers
1. Before requesting a lookup, be certain that an obituary is likely to be found in a Missouri newspaper.
2. Provide as much information as possible to aid us in locating the obituary. You must provide a minimum of the name of the individual at the time of death and the month and year of death to take advantage of this special service rate.
3. Complete the online order form below and hit ‘Send’. This will take you to the shopping cart where you can choose to pay by Mastercard, Visa or check. Alternately, you can print out and complete the ‘Obituary Request Form‘ and mail it along with the appropriate fee to: Barbara Freeman, PO Box 2155, Jefferson City, MO 65102-2155
4. The fee for an obituary is for the research service, therefore, this fee is non-refundable regardless of whether an obituary was found. If an obituary is found, you will receive a photocopy of the obituary mailed to you at the address you provide. If an obituary is not found, you will receive information as to the sources checked in attempting to locate the obituary.
5. Lookups are done on a first-come first-serve basis for Missouri obituaries. Please allow two to four weeks from our receipt of your request and appropriate payment for the lookup.
